Very powerful editing software for Nikon RAW images, can also process jpg and tiffs I almost always get better results by simply editing JPEGS than when trying to utilize extra dynamic information from RAW-s. The ONLY easily accessible tool for partial image is round control point without even proper falloff control.
It is almost impossible to perform basic tasks: for instance I want to put exposure gradient to expose the lower part of the picture (ground) while keeping the upper (sky). Because the increase of exposure clips brightness and when you then decrease brightness of clipped areas you are getting worse results than when working with jpeg from start. For instance if yo want to increase brightness of the whole photo but keep some areas intact: you increase exposure compensation of the whole photo, add control point for the area and decrease brightness for this poing: you end up with washed out picture.
Instead of internally representing the pixels as floating point or extending other way the dynamic it is clipping pixels heavily. The software has internal flaws making it almost unusable/useless. I would throw everything away and rethink the needs of photographers. It was written by NIKON engineers who did try to replicate internal nuts and bolts of the camera instead of thinking of what is needed to really 'develop' a raw photo (change brightness / contrast / etc.).
The software is extermely slow, clumsy and overcomplicated.
